RUMBA MISSION

To unify and support the animal rescue community of North Alabama through:

  • Information exchange,
  • Public education
  • Community events.

RUMBA STATEMENT OF CAPABILITIES

Some of the tools to be made available at the GO-RUMBA website are:

  • FEATURED PETS -- highlights of animals that need adoption, updated each week.
  • CALENDAR -- a calendar of upcoming events, special activities, and meetings.
  • PETLINKER -- a program whereby lost and found dogs and cats may be matched.
  • ADOPTION AIDS -- links to Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet.
  • HEART MEDICINE -- humor, heartwarming tales, etc.
  • RESCUE REPORTS -- sections for each rescue organization to report progress and request help.
  • VOLUNTEER OPS -- volunteer sign up and matching of requests and abilities.
  • ORGANIZATIONS -- links to all rescue orgs in N. Alabama.
  • PREFERRED PRACTICES -- educational briefings (i.e., how to house train your pet, how to introduce a new pet to an established pack, hints for finding the right rescued pet, microchipping, spay/neuter,etc.)
  • ANNOUNCEMENTS -- special announcements (upcoming events, personnel changes, opening of thrift shops, etc.)
  • Organization that could be used to plan and produce workshops like the recent Petfinder/Petco one in Montgomery.

RUMBA REQUIREMENTS FROM PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS:

RUMBA will need weekly updates that may include:

  • number of animals rescued
  • animals adopted
  • calendar items
  • volunteer highlights
  • special animal tales
  • lost and found reports
